What to Do When Life Gets You Down: Pick a Theme Song
The power of music is amazing and is why we should all have a theme song which lifts our spirits and gets us back on track. It can change a mood in an instant. Take a moment and think how you have used music in your life to validate a feeling or change a mood. I can remember clearly when my sister came home from college and her boyfriend had just broken up with her. She sat in her room and listened to Desperado on repeat for days. She cried for hours and it seemed nothing would get her past it. Eventually she said enough is enough and found a song she knew picked her up and put that on repeat. Thank heavens.
Rules for Picking and Using a Theme Song:
- Must be upbeat
- Must put a smile on your face and in your heart when you hear it.

- Must light a fire under your butt and get you going
- Learn all the Lyrics right away.
- Burn it to a CD and put it in all your vehicles
- Listen to it whenever you need a pick me up
- Sing it like no one is watching when ever you need.
*Please do not underestimate the power of a theme song. I promise this will put a positive spin on your journey in life. Find yourself singing in the hard times. Please do not get me wrong as we all have our moments but your song will make your moments more bearable. Keep on kickin’ some major butt.
It seems so small, yet it has a mighty power which might be the very thing you need to reach your goals!
Oh, if you dare pick a theme movie that inspires you as well. What is yours? If you are feeling spunky please share below as your song or movie might just inspire someone else. Go ahead and let yourself pay it forward.

OMG Gena! I thought I was the only one who believes in Theme songs for certain moments of your life. For me when I’m really sick and not mobile my hubby plays my favorite music (Salsa) and my whole mindset totally does a 360. It’s unreal but true. You be surprise what music can do to an individual. Love this article. Thanks for sharing.

Theme songs are awesome Gena. I was just thinking how powerful words/lyrics can be. My favorite song when I need some uplifting is: The Climb by Miley Cyrus. Here is the link to a You Tube Video.

I don’t know what it is about music, but you are so right, it has the ability to completely impact our moods and feelings. Unless I missed it…. you didn’t tell us what your theme song is!
